Paul
Portney
Dean
and Halle Chair in Leadership, Eller College of Management
Dr. Paul Portney,
former President of Resources for the Future (RFF), joined
the Eller College of Management as the new dean and the Halle
Chair in Leadership in July 2005. Since 1972, Portney
was with RFF, an independent and non-partisan research and
educational organization in Washington, D.C. that specializes
in natural resources and the environment.
In addition to his
non-profit experience, Portney has experience within higher
education and government. In 1977, he served as a visiting
professor at the Graduate School of Public Policy at the University
of California at Berkeley. And, from 1992 to 1995, he was
a visiting lecturer at Princeton University’s Woodrow
Wilson School. He also served as Chief Economist for the White
House Council on Environmental Quality from 1979-1980.
Portney received his B.A. in economics
in 1967 from Alma College in Michigan, and his Ph.D. in economics
from Northwestern University. He is the author or co-author
of ten books, including Public Policies
for Environmental Protection.
